Is the cold-war heating up again?

I’ve noticed a deafening silence coming from the anti-war left with respect to Russia’s military aggression in Georgia. And now we have this:

Poland and the United States on Thursday signed a deal for Poland to accept a missile interceptor base as part of a system the United States says is aimed at blocking attacks by rogue nations. Moscow, however, feels it is aimed at Russia’s missile force.

“Poland, by deploying (the system) is exposing itself to a strike — 100 percent,” Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of staff, was quoted as saying.

If I were in a less cynical mood I would suggest the anti-war left were simply distracted by other world events, and eventually they would get around to condemning Russia’s actions, but instead I’ll tell you what I really think: most left-wing anti-war protest is targeted at the “capitalist menace”, the United States.

There, I said it.
